about jody
A driven, strong, and independent woman who led a life with purpose and compassion.
Jody Allred Hissong was born on February 11, 1943 in Hailey, Idaho. Growing up in rural Idaho, Jody and her family were hard working folks of humble means. As a young woman, Jody realized that what she really wanted in life was to become a nurse. It was her dream and passion but her family could not afford to send her to nursing school. As fortune would have it, Jody befriended a group of nuns who worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Pocatello, Idaho. She was working there as a CNA at the age of 18. The nurses were so taken by Jody and her desire to become a nurse that they pooled what little money they had and made it possible for Jody to get her degree.
After finishing nursing school, Jody served as a nurse for over 50 years. Jody loved helping people and nursing was one of the ways she did it.
Jody never forgot the opportunity and professional life that the nurses created for her. Over her lifetime she used her money and moral support to help many people achieve their professional dreams. She was an active volunteer her whole life. Sadly, Jody passed away in 2022 after a long battle with cancer. One of her final wishes was to create a lasting organization dedicated to helping fund professional advancement.
